How to find out if someone is reading your email

Many people don’t realize just how easy it is to get into their email box.

All one needs to know to get into your email box is your password.
There are many situations where your password is simply known to another person.
Maybe no one actually knows it, but it can easily be guessed.
And of course this can also be easily obtained by simply sniffing a network, either connected on the same wired switch, or even more easily if you’re both connected on the same wireless network.
There are many more ways to obtain your password, but we’ll discuss that in a separate post.

Once someone does have access to your email box, he’d probably be smart enough to reset every read message back to unread state, so not only someone can be reading your email - You will have absolutely no knowledge of that happening.

MakeUseOf.com posted this great article (actually summarizing an original article) explaining how to find out if someone is reading your email!

I’ll let you explore the article yourselves, the bottom line is that it explains how to create a special “tripwire” email that once opened will notify you that someone is reading your email.

I have to say it’s a fantastic and original idea, one of the best security tips I’ve recently encountered.
So go ahead, set that email tripwire. ;-)
