TeamViewer - Best free remote control software

For years I’ve been the technical support call center for, mainly, my mother. She’s had to work with a computer for the last decade or so, with a specific industry software. She can, mechanically, perform all the actions necessary to control that specific application - But anything beyond that is completely beyond her.
Naturally, throughout these years I’ve been experimenting with different remote control applications which will allow me to take control of her desktop and save the day rather then spend hours in frustrating support phone calls.

There are a few simple points which matter when I’m looking into a simple remote control applications for technical support usage:
1. Easy to install and run - I want to be able to walk my mother through downloading and installing the application.
2. Fast - The application should be small and fast.
3. Doesn’t run as server - The application doesn’t need to be a server type application. No need to be running as Windows starts up. And moreover, a server application needs to have open ports, made complicated by routers, firewalls etc.
4. Free - Nuff said…

Anyhow, many very good remote control applications I’ve used over the years and are excellent otherwise were not an options since they didn’t fit one or more of the guidelines above. Good stuff like VNC, Radmin, LogMeIn etc.

I’ve just discovered a fantastic new remote control application - TeamViewer.
I was able to guide my mom through download and installation. It’s super fast and friendly. No need to open any ports or anything, both sides of the session initiate the connection.
And it’s free for personal use.

I tried it and it rocks. Try TeamViewer.
